For example, a diploma confirming the completion of secondary education or a degree awarded after completing university or technical studies. This degree is considered foreign if it was obtained through an educational system outside of Spain or within Spain under a different educational regime (e.g., a medical degree obtained within the Chilean educational system).
As you can see, the nationality of the student has no bearing on the degree homologation process. A Spanish citizen, for example, could have studied in a system other than Spain’s.

- For healthcare-related studies, you will also need to provide proof of at least 3 years of professional practice in the last 5 years if your degree is more than 6 years old.

Procedure for Homologating a Foreign Degree in Spain:
- Create an account on the Electronic Headquarters of the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. You need to use your identity document (NIE, passport, or other).
- Pay the fee for Model 790-107:
- From Spain: Online payment, bank transfer, or in-person payment at the bank.
- From abroad: Transfer to the Bank of Spain (be sure to include the applicant’s name in the transfer subject).
- Fill out the application form with the applicant’s details and the name of the degree you wish to homologate.
- Attach the required documentation and the payment proof (as outlined in step 2).
