Resolution of February 21, 2024, from the General Secretariat of Universities
The Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities, through the resolution of February 21, 2024, sets new instructions for the process of homologation, equivalence, and validation of foreign higher education degrees to be managed through a specific path. This initiative aims to simplify and expedite the management process, following the Recommendation (EU) 2023/2611 from the European Commission, dated November 15, 2023, regarding the recognition of qualifications for nationals of third countries.
What is the specific path?
It is a preferential treatment to provide a faster response to requests for homologation, equivalence, and validation of degrees, with the goal of more efficient integration into the labor market.
Who can apply to this “express” procedure through the specific path?
- Non-EU citizens who have obtained a residence permit that allows them to work in Spain.
- Individuals who have obtained Spanish nationality.
- Individuals who have obtained nationality from a European Union member state.
Are you a resident in Spain and don’t know how to apply this resolution?
If your application is already in progress, whether you have Spanish nationality, nationality from an EU member country, or reside in Spain, you do not need to provide any additional documents. This data will be automatically verified by the Ministry.
Do you hold dual nationality, one of which is Spanish or from an EU country, and have you started your application with a non-EU passport?
You must provide the corresponding passport and indicate that you are adhering to the Resolution of February 21, 2024.
