WHAT IS UNIVERSITY DEGREE RECOGNITION (HOMOLOGACIÓN)?
The homologación process allows Spain’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities to evaluate your foreign degree, academic transcript, and study plan to officially recognize it as equivalent to a Spanish degree.
REQUIREMENTS TO RECOGNIZE YOUR UNIVERSITY DEGREE IN SPAIN
- You must hold a degree issued by an official non-Spanish higher education institution.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
Documents may vary depending on the profession you’re applying to validate. Generally, you’ll need:
- Identity document (passport or ID)
- Degree or diploma
- Academic transcript (certificado de notas)
- Official study plan or syllabus
- Proof of administrative fee payment
For health-related degrees: If your diploma is more than 6 years old, you must also submit a certificate proving at least 3 years of professional experience in the last 5 years.
Important: All documents must be properly legalized or apostilled, and translated into Spanish if necessary.
